DIY: Plant Cell Model Project

July 17, 2017

Greetings!

Unexpectedly, my weekend was filled by this kinda little thing. Playing with DIY (Do It Yourself) stuff. I think it was a long time ago since the last time I have played with plasticine and some water colors. It's so reminiscing my primary school memories in the art class though. Hahaha...

As I've been seeking for pieces of information and helps from some blogger sites to accomplish this, today I will write a post about my own model here. Intentionally as a guide and able to cater for any student that wishes to build it too. Who knows, right?

HOW TO BUILD A PLANT CELL MODEL?

First of all, you must have the list of what plant cell should have, so that you won't miss any organelles when the excitement engulfed your world.

Next, buy the materials needed. So what I have used in my project was really simple and safe cost.

1. Plasticine (You may share with your friend)
2. Polystyrene
3. Water Colors
4. Toothpick
5. Color Papers
6. 3-sec Glue or UHU glue
7. Scissor & Cutter
8. Stapler
9.Cellophane tape
10. Orange Furry Thread (i don't know what's the name actually hahaha)
11. Gloves (optional)

#p/s: UHU GLUE IS VERY CORROSIVE TOWARD POLYSTYRENE. SO IF YOU WANT TO PASTE ANYTHING ON IT, PLEASE USE 3-SEC GLUE INSTEAD OF UHU.

Maybe you need to wear a glove when applying it to avoid the glue from your hand. It's hard to remove it tho...

Then start work on it, play with the dough and try to make the exact shape of organelles as possible as you can. Because sometimes when you want to make a ball shape it doesn't really look like a ball shape. Pheewww... (rip childhood talent)

I am so happy if this post could help you like the other posts did to me.

Goodluck! May your ball-like-plasticine is really looked like a ball! :p
